A quick query on the project''s status - quoth the website: Alpha release of Phase 1 made on October 1st 2007. Beta release planned for 1st March 2008. Integration to ON targeted for soon after beta. ...we''ve obviously missed the 1st March target, is there a new target date? If not could someone (Darren?) give a rough ETA? I''m guessing that once the Beta phase is announced we shouldn''t see anymore changes in the way the data is stored on disk. Is this correct? Also please clarify what is meant by "Intergration to ON". Thanks, D.
Hello Damian I''m not sure where you are finding this information. Here is our latest schedule. http://opensolaris.org/os/project/zfs-crypto/plan/ I hope that this helps. The Solaris Operating System is made up of many consolidations, or components. ON stands for Operating Systems and Networking (ON) Consolidation. That is where the ZFS-crypto functionality will live. Once it is integrated into ON, the ON consolidation will run sanity tests on its own internal build and when satisfied, deliver its bits with the other consolidations to the WOS (Wad of Stuff). Then the next build of Nevada will be officially created. You can find out more about ON here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/on/ Valerie -- Valerie Fenwick, http://blogs.sun.com/bubbva Solaris Security Technologies, Developer, Sun Microsystems, Inc. 17 Network Circle, Menlo Park, CA, 94025. 650-786-0461
Jennier, Thankyou for the correct URL, as for where I found my information it''s on the front page at: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/zfs-crypto/ under the heading "Current Status"...I guess this information has been moved and no-one has removed it from the original spot. Now that I know the target for release is during Q2 perhaps one of the lead developers could give a very rough gestimate as to whether we are talking about nearer the beginning of the quarter or nearer the end of it. Thanks, D.> Hello Damian > > I''m not sure where you are finding this information. > > Here is our latest schedule. > > http://opensolaris.org/os/project/zfs-crypto/plan/ > > I hope that this helps. > > Jennifer > > > Damian Jurd wrote: >> A quick query on the project''s status - quoth the website: >> >> Alpha release of Phase 1 made on October 1st 2007. >> >> Beta release planned for 1st March 2008. >> >> Integration to ON targeted for soon after beta. >> >> ...we''ve obviously missed the 1st March target, is there a new target >> date? Valerie, Thanks for the explanation....I had assumed that it was something to do with integration into opensolaris proper but I wasn''t quite sure.
