You need IRC-support in your kernel.
(Networking options ---> IP: Netfilter Configuration ---> IRC protocol
support)
If you don''t have this option there get the latest kernel-source and
recompile it with this option activated.
If it STILL doesn''t work you might try the latest iptables from
www.netfilter.org.
If THAT doesn''t work either you might check whether there are still
unapplied patches from iptables.
AFAIK there are no pending patches concerning working dcc; only minor
patches might not be applied yet. This means in 2.4.18 IRC should work
without patches to apply.
