[Shorewall-users] Updated rfc1918 - APNIC assignment from April 2003
Hi Tom et al, Last night I found reference to updates of the IANA reserved ranges. (http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv4-address-space) As I am in Australia I was interested to see that during April 2003 APNIC returned the 223.0.0.0/8 range to IANA and received the 60.0.0.0/8 range instead. Shorewall''s rfc1918 file does not currently reflect this change. Tom could you please update the current version to correct this problem? I had noticed that we were dropping some packets from our Australian name servers and I had been unable to find a reason for why. Hopefully this change will sort things out. cheers Elton elton.nospam@datacodex.com Datacodex Pty Ltd

Tomcould> you please update the current version to correct this problem? There is a whole lot more IANA reserved ranges than the one you asked for not in that file. Just because IANA reserved them, doesn''t mean that they are updated in RFC 1918. Can you provide a link to an updated RFC 1918? I think maybe the shorewall file is a bit misnamed. But anyway, my rfc1918 file has this entry which may help you: # The following are generated with the help of the Python program found at: # # http://www.shorewall.net/pub/shorewall/contrib/iana_reserved/ # # The program was contributed by Andy Wiggin Reading that python script looks like it will update the list for you.> I had noticed that we were dropping some packets from our Australian name > servers and I had been unable to find a reason for why.
