Shorewall users - Dec 2003 - Problem with the 2.4.23 kernel and shorewall

Hi I just upgraded to the 2.4.23 kernel and now if I do like ping
yahoo.com it says unknown host but as soon as I do shorewall clear every
thing works 
 
Also if I boot into my 2.4.28 kernel it works just fine some stuff about
my system 
 
Redhat 7.3 
Iptables 1.2.8
Kernel 2.4.23
