I''m also following Debian unstable and all the files are there in /etc/shorewall. Perhaps something went wrong when you were installing. Perhaps purge (not remove) and reinstall, and if the same thing happens, maybe you should submit a bug report. When you do a clean install of Shorewall version 2.0 from debian sid, there are no files in /etc/Shorewall The files are in /usr/share/doc/Shorewall/default-config/ If you upgraded from a Shorewall 1.4 on debian sid to Shorewall 2.0 on debian sid, the old files remain there. Perhaps this was a mistake. Now I cannot ping anywhere or contact my news server as long as shorewall is running, and sometimes it turns off my ADSL connection completely. Something is clearly misconfigured but I''ve no idea what. I''ve put the following line in /etc/shorewall/interfaces: net eth0 detect dhcp which at least allows me to connect. After copying the new one-interface sample for shorewall 2.0 things seem to be working again (I think).
