You need at least version 3.88 of lame. You may also need to tell
ices where you've installed it (--with-lame=/usr/local, if lame.h is
in /usr/local/include and libmp3lame.a is in /usr/local/lib, for
example).
what version of ices, what version of lame, and what configure options
for both did you use?
