Stupid question - how do you increase your buffer size? I don't care if the problem lies with icecast, liveice, libshout, or whatever. I just want to stream my MP3s.> What kidn of files are you streaming?MP3s and nothing but.> Have you ran them through mp3check and mp3_check?Yep. Found a couple with a few bad frames and deleted them. Other than that, nothing worse than a missing ID3 tag or two.> Is load goign up when it starts skipping?Nope. Load remains at 0.0, although if ices starts resyncing, load spikes to 7.5 or higher. The skipping and resyncing are not connected, as far as I can tell.> How about disk usage?I've got about a gig and a half or so free. And as far as hard drive bottlenecks... I streamed from ShoutCast for ages with no problems whatsoever.> Can you monitor bandwidth and make sure sporadic spurts aren't the problem? As far as I can tell, bandwidth is remaining the same. Interestingly enough, I have no problems at all streaming static files.> Is it better if you drastically increase your buffer size?Buffer was at 64k, bumping it up to 512k still skips. --- Julia Lunetta Listen to my music collection... http://julial.dhs.org:8005/ <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Better, but still > not acceptable.THen I suggest you start to look elsewhere for your problem. libshout is quite well tested and every time someone has thought it was skipping, it turned out to be NTP chaning their clock or a slow harddrive or something similar. What kidn of files are you streaming? Have you ran them through mp3check and mp3_check? Is load goign up when it starts skipping? How about disk usage? Can you monitor bandwidth and make sure sporadic spurts aren't the problem? Is it better if you drastically increase your buffer size? jack. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. So if you change it, you're going to throw off the timing :) jack. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. When you are using multiple streams, should each mount point be on the same port i.e. ./ices -h myserver -m mymount -p 8000 ./ices -h myserver -m myothermount -p 8000 Or do they need to be on different ports ./ices -h myserver -m mymount -p 8000 ./ices -h myserver -m myothermount -p 8001 Gary --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Other than >that, nothing worse than a missing ID3 tag or two.Could you please give me the address of these tool(mp3check, mp3_check). I have many bad coded mp3, When Icecast streaming these bad! mp3s it kicks the connected clients. I want to delete all these mp3s from my hard disk. I think mp3check and mp3_check are the tools that I am looking for. Hi Jack, interesting that you should mention NTP. With the problem that I am having, I am getting actual libshout errors. I have run all my mp3s through mp3check and my disk subsystem is 7200 RPM SCSI. Why would NTP cause issues? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack Moffitt" <jack@xiph.org> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 1:48 PM Subject: Re: [icecast] Stuttering stream <p>> > Done, and it's working... but not significantly better than before.> > Whereas before I couldn't clear a single song without the streamdevolving> > into skipping, now I'm averaging between 15-20 minutes.
