Hi I've had success building & using my own Samba4 Debian package using the instructions on the SambaWiki, specifically: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/OS_Requirements Distribution Specific Package Installation Debian / Ubuntu # apt-get install build-essential libacl1-dev libattr1-dev \ libblkid-dev libgnutls-dev libreadline-dev python-dev libpam0g-dev \ python-dnspython gdb pkg-config libpopt-dev libldap2-dev \ dnsutils libbsd-dev attr krb5-user docbook-xsl libcups2-dev acl I also distribute this custom Samba4 Debian package amongst my organization's servers using a local apt repository (reprepro). Are the above Debian packages required for running or building Samba4? If they are for building only does anyone have a list of Debian package dependencies for running Samba4? Thanks Fred Smith.

hai Fred, I suggest you look at the backported samba packages for debian. Or look at the sernet samba packages ( now 4.1.17 ) Much easier.
