libvirt users - Jan 2016 - Adding a Virtio Serial Controller

As I want to add a channel device programmatically via libvirt API , I got an
error due to the fact
that the Guest has no VirtIO Serial Controller in its configuration.

Is it possible to add it via libvirt API ?
