:> In trying to get NoteWorthy Composer working on my box (Mandrake 10.0,
> Gnome 2.4) I found a webboard for NWC under Linux (on wine). Following

If you have a rpm base Linux distribution like Mandrake, you should use
it:
Timidity package is
TiMidity++-2.13.1-0.cvs20040722.1mdk
If you don't have a recent Mandrake (10.1) do on root
urpmi Timidity++
do download and install it
Doing rpm -qil TiMidity++
you get the files installed and you can verify that there is default
timidity.cfg, but which is on /usr/share and not on /usr/local/share
(this is the way I know that your personal install did not work):

Ultrasound(tm) or SoundFont(tm) patch files to generate digital audio
data
from general MIDI files. The audio data can be played through any
sound device or stored on disk.

/usr/share/man/man5/timidity.cfg.5.bz2
/usr/share/timidity/timidity.cfg
And you need to launch something like
$ timidity -iA -Os &
But not as root (and if you don't have a midi card).
You can also directly go the winehq app db where I added a section to
previous sections some days ago at the URL:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=1101
Hope that it will help.
Cheers,
Nicolas
