I have installed Debian 9.4 Stretch (stable) with Xen Hypervisor 4.8
on a NUMA machine with two AMD Epyc processors. The machine is booting
in UEFI mode.

This warning message appears after Grub2, when booting the hypervisor
kernel. When booting the default Debian kernel, this warning does not
appear.

I found a hint that when booting Grub2 in UEFI mode the video fields in
the multiboot header must be set correctly.

Confirmed that this happens here as well.

Very little console output is displayed after this point, but at least 
the standard login prompt on tty1 is shown after the boot process 
completes.
