[Pkg-xen-devel] Bug#882806: xen-hypervisor-4.8-amd64: After upgrade to stretch all Windows VM crash on boot or hang on boot
Package: src:xen Version: 4.8.1-1+deb9u3 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system This problem is CPU E5420 and Xem hypervisor related. The same Windows VM boot on another Xen 4.6 on another machine. And also boot on Xen 4.8 on another machine. On this machine with Debian Jessie works without problem. After dist-upgrade all Win VMs stop working. I test fresh install but nothing helps. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.2 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=cs_CZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=cs_CZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) xen-hypervisor-4.8-amd64 depends on no packages. [Pkg-xen-devel] Bug#882806: xen-hypervisor-4.8-amd64: After upgrade to stretch all Windows VM crash on boot or hang on boot
severity 882806 normal tags 882806 + moreinfo thanks Hi Dan, Thanks for your report. There's a small team of Debian package maintainers, and a huge amount of different things you can do with Xen. While Xen allows running Windows guests, the Debian maintainers do not have much experience with that, and moreover, do not have the means to help reproducing the errors you see. I hope you have found out more about your issue in the meantime. If so, please let us know. The upstream Xen documentation and wiki has information about debugging guest startup and collecting information. You could also try your luck on the upstream xen-users mailing list [0]. However, this would also require more detailed information instead of only "It doesn't work"-style information in order to enable others to help you. Good luck, Hans van Kranenburg [0] https://lists.xenproject.org/mailman/listinfo/xen-users
