[Pkg-exim4-users] Configuring exim4 for DHCP?
The exim4 docs and the exim4 configuration screens don''t seem to have a simple answer for this simple question: I connect to my ISP using DHCP. For outgoing email, I have the name of their host to connect to (i.e. the exim4 configuration item "dc_smarthost"). How do I configure exim4 for this use case? That is to say, how should I answer the prompts from "dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config" (or populate my configuration file)? I''ve tried a few combinations but I''m getting a variety of SMTP errors from the ISP''s mail host. (For incoming mail, mutt can connect and read my mailbox just fine.) Any help is greatly appreciated ... f.baube

You can, and probably must, configure exim using no ip addresses, but names instead. Can you obtain your ISP mail (smarthost) address with dig?> > I''ve tried a few combinations but I''m getting a variety of SMTP errors from the ISP''s mail host.Well, what errors?> > (For incoming mail, mutt can connect and read my mailbox just fine.) > > Any help is greatly appreciated ... > > f.baubeSaludos,> > > > _______________________________________________ > Pkg-exim4-users mailing list > Pkg-exim4-users at lists.alioth.debian.org > http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-exim4-users-- Fernando M. Just configure exim to use the smarthost.> I''ve tried a few combinations but I''m getting a variety of SMTP errors > from the ISP''s mail host.Which combinations did you try, and which SMTP errors do you get?
