Freeride users - Sep 2004 - [FR-users] Starting FreeRIDE on Windows without a command shell

Hi all,

I''m sitting here, futzing around with FreeRIDE on my
Win2k box.  Nice job!

One thing that irritates me is the command shell
window that opens up alongside FreeRIDE when I start
it (and which must remain open).  So, I''ve edited the
run.bat file to look like this:

start /B C:\ruby\bin\rubyw.exe freeride.rb

Is there any reason not to do this?  Will this break
anything?  If not, please consider using start /B.

No, there is nothing wrong with doing this (I even do it myself sometimes).
The only reason I haven''t done this officially do this is because I
worry
that FreeRIDE is not yet stable enough and that the cause of a crash would
be hidden. I suppose we could actually have two startup scripts, the primary
one without a console window, and a "debug" one that does.
I''ll add this to
my list.

The second reason is that so far the run.bat file works on all 
platforms (Linux, Windows, MacOS).
