Hi. Following a very long and many installations of XenServer, I have come to an understanding that the size of the root partition is just too smal. While 4GB is enough (barely) to maintain the local thin setup, the disk becomes crowded with more updates (which are not cleaned-up by default) applied, and with various additions (example: network problem which causes the system to fill up the logs, causing disk alerts at 97%). While I can do very little for the already-existing setups (and I am working (low-priority) on some solutions, such log filtering and sending to a modern (graylog2 or LogStash) log cruncher), I can do two things - the first is to state this problem and voice my problems, which are funny on a multi-tenths-of-gigas systems, and the other is to offer a workaroud for all of you who would install their *next* XenServer, and feel that you just need a little more space to begin with. This process (which is not very complex, it's just that I have documented it) has been performed and tested today by me, and is posted here for your viewing pleasure.
