Hi.
I have enabled tagmail, and now I get a lot of (notice) messages from
all my clients, a little to many I would say. (About 350 this night).
The mails I get are about the puppet service being changed from stopped
to running every time puppet check its configuration:
Fri Feb 15 09:49:27 +0100 2008
//Node[d26apvl002.test.local]/puppet_client_64/Service[puppet]/ensure
(notice): ensure changed ''stopped'' to
''running''
Fri Feb 15 09:52:06 +0100 2008
//Node[d26apvl001.test.local]/puppet_client_64/Service[puppet]/ensure
(notice): ensure changed ''stopped'' to
''running''
Fri Feb 15 09:59:23 +0100 2008
//Node[b08apfl004.preprod.internsone.local]/puppet_client_64/Service[pup
pet]/ensure (notice): ensure changed ''stopped'' to
''running''
My puppet_client_64 class is as follows:
class puppet_client_64 {
package { puppet:
ensure => ''0.24.1-1.el5'',
}
package { ruby:
ensure => latest,
}
package { ruby-rdoc:
ensure => latest,
}
package { ruby-libs:
ensure => latest,
}
# package { ruby-abi:
# ensure => latest,
# }
package { ruby-shadow:
ensure => latest,
}
package { ruby-fam:
ensure => latest,
}
package { ruby-rpm:
ensure => latest,
}
service { puppet:
ensure => running,
enable => true,
hasrestart => true,
hasstatus => true,
subscribe => Package[puppet]
}
file { "/etc/sysconfig/puppet":
mode => 644,
owner => root,
group => root,
source => "puppet://$server/files/puppet_sysconfig",
notify => Service[puppet]
}
file { "/etc/puppet/puppet.conf":
mode => 644,
owner => root,
group => root,
source => "puppet://$server/files/puppet.conf.dist",
notify => Service[puppet]
}
file { "/etc/puppet/tagmail.conf":
mode => 644,
owner => root,
group => root,
source => "puppet://$server/files/tagmail.conf.dist",
notify => Service[puppet]
}
}
Is there someway to either configure tagmail to only send mail if errors
or other things happening, or can I modify my puppet-class so that it
dosent stop and start puppetd every time it has a configuration-run.?
Magnar
