Hi all, I''m going to begin the migration of all Puppet lists (really, any lists hosted on madstop.com) to Google Groups, as discussed a few weeks back. I still have not found a solution for importing archives, but I can''t just sit on it waiting for that problem to solve itself. You should be receiving an invitation to join the equivalent to each of the lists you''re currently on; I will not be auto-subscribing anyone to the lists, so you *will* need to accept these invitations if you want to stay on the lists. I''ll leave the madstop lists up indefinitely, but I''d like to disable new users within the next week or two, and I''d really like to see all traffic off them by the end of February. Thanks, and please let me know if you have any questions. -- A person''s maturity consists in having found again the seriousness one had as a child, at play. --Friedrich Nietzsche --------------------------------------------------------------------- Luke Kanies | http://reductivelabs.com | http://madstop.com

You''ll need to subscribe yourself, since I won''t be able to invite you. Once I have the complete list of lists (later today), I''ll post them and update the docs. -- We all have strength enough to endure the misfortunes of others. -- Francois de La Rochefoucauld --------------------------------------------------------------------- Luke Kanies | http://reductivelabs.com | http://madstop.com

In the meantime, here are the lists: http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-dev http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-bugs http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-commit I''ve decided to kill the -docs and -platforms lists, since they''re never really used, and the -tickets list was apparently never used either. I can always create them later if necessary. I also created a Runnels development list: http://groups.google.com/group/runnels-dev That was small enough that the members got invited immediately, though (it''s a really low-traffic list). -- Always behave like a duck - keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath. -- Jacob Braude --------------------------------------------------------------------- Luke Kanies | http://reductivelabs.com | http://madstop.com

E.g., to subscribe to the puppet-users list, email ''puppet-users-subscribe@groups.google.com ''. I put ''subscribe <email>'' in the subject, but that''s probably not necessary. -- When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. I requested -bugs and -commits on Gmane. I guess somebody should pick a time to ask that the Gmane subscriptions for -user and -devel get switched to Google Groups. Maybe that''s in a week or so when most folks will have moved :)

There''s no point in using the new lists until Google actually approves all of the invites I sent out, which I hope will be in the next couple of days but have no real idea. Once the invites are approved, I''d like to give a week or so for everyone to get subscribed, then lock posting on the old lists. This would hopefully put us switching lists sometime around the weekend of the 23-24th. That''s a reasonable time for everyone else to be subscribed. So, at this point, use the old lists until then, and then plan on switching to the new ones that weekend.> I requested -bugs and -commits on Gmane.
