Rails spinoffs - Nov 2006 - Getting serialized result from sub-element

I have the following code:

                <td id="november_23"
class="CalendarDay"><p>23</p>
		 <ul id="list1" class="sortables">
                   	<li id="article_1"><a
href="#">My First
Attempt</a></li>
			<li id="article_2"><a href="#">Build Your Own
</a></li>
		 </ul>
                </td>

I am trying to get the serialization of the li elements by calling the
id ''november_23'' - any help?
