Hi All, Just installed Shorewall (v 3.3.2) for the first time and followed a tutorial via the webmin module. All seems pretty straight forward except when I tried to start it, it gave an error then locked me out! [root@ns shorewall]# shorewall start Compiling... Initializing... Determining Zones... ERROR: Invalid Zone Type: Net /sbin/shorewall: line 524: 22776 Terminated $SHOREWALL_SHELL ${SHAREDIR}/compiler $debugging $nolock compile ${VARDIR}/.start Any help that you guys can give to get me back up and running will be greatly appreciated. I would have expected the start script to revert on error not lock the server down. This install is on a web server that I connect to via SSH. The Webmin Shorewall module is so hopelessly out of date that it is almost useless. In particular, it doesn''t know how to create a Shorewall 3.x configuration. Second, please follow one of the HOWTOs at http://www.shorewall.net/shorewall_quickstart_guide.htm to configure Shorewall. Third. Shorewall goes into a ''safe'' mode when ''start'' fails. This is pointed out in the HOWTOs that I just referred you to. To restore full (wide open) operation, use "/sbin/shorewall clear". -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. My server started from a reboot and was not locked out (phew!!) Will take a look at the quick start guide you have sent me the link for.
