Shorewall users - May 2006 - Multi ISP and ADSL problem

Hi,

 I use Shorewall 2.4.7 with  two Internet connections from two different 
ISPs.
Connection "A" is ADSL, connection "B" is another kind of
broadband
connection (LMDS).
In the ADSL link I have 1 public ip which changes dynamically, and in the 
"B" connection I have 28 fixed public IP''s that I can use.

I configured in the script /etc/ppp/ip-up when the ip of ADSL change, run 
"shorewall restart"

The last wekeend, both Internet connections goes down,
The problem was, when the IP of ADSL change, the ADSL lost the link 
conection(I not know why?, is the first time this problem occurs), then when 
run "shorewall restart", shorewall show an error and automaticaly stop
the
start.
The error message is "Unable to detect the gateway through interface ppp0
"
The solution for the problem was restart ADSL Modem, and then run
"shorewall
restart"

In the shorewall configuration file "providers" I configured the adsl,
to
autodetect de gateway.

What can I do, if the adsl goes down to make the other link avaivalble?

I think the solution maybe, use the script /etc/ppp/ip-down and configure 
it, to run "shorewall restart <configuration-without-adsl>"

What do you think?

maybe you could set the ADSL modem to router mode. much more easier to
manage. just my 2 cents
