Hi!
I have 3 Ubuntu boxes running shorewall 3.0.4, 2 of them are letting me
to connecto to port 106 on localhost but one of them is not. They all
have the exact same configuration files, as a matter of fact, the box
that is not allowing me to make connections to localhost port 106
(poppassd) is the one that I used as source to copy the config files
(zones, rules, interfaces) to the other two.
I''ve been searching for 2 days for similarities/differences between the
config files on the boxes and there''s nothing different other than the
box that is not allowing me to connecto to localhost port 106 is not
running a DNS server, which the others are.
This is my zones file for the 3 boxes:
#ZONE TYPE OPTIONS IN OUT
# OPTIONS OPTIONS
fw firewall
net ipv4
#LAST LINE - ADD YOUR ENTRIES ABOVE THIS ONE - DO NOT REMOVE
On my policy file for the 3 boxes I have the following:
#SOURCE DEST POLICY LOG LEVEL LIMIT:BURST
$FW net ACCEPT
net all DROP info
$FW fw ACCEPT
# The FOLLOWING POLICY MUST BE LAST
all all REJECT info
#LAST LINE -- ADD YOUR ENTRIES ABOVE THIS LINE -- DO NOT REMOVE
All I need is that a php script on my webmail system connects locally
to the poppassd to allow my users to change their passwords. Still
can''t figure out why the other boxes, configured with the exact same
files allow me to connect to this port on localhost and the other
system isn''t.
Here''s an output of the successful connection to localhost on port 106
# telnet localhost 106
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is ''^]''.
200 poppassd v1.8.4 hello, who are you?
And this is what I get in the system that doesn''t let me connect to it:
# telnet localhost 106
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
Your thoughts on this one will be much appreciated.
Best Regards,
