First off - apologies to the list...the mail administrators here had some
problems and the "Out of Office" note went to everyone who e-mailed me
-
instead of internal clients only. Thanks to the well wishers as well, Tom
and Paul in particluar - the surgery did go well...

I''m giving up on an old model Cisco AP350 (it was installed on the
internal LAN) and installing a Linksys BEFW1154 v4 "Wireless-B Broadband
Router" for my home setup. The settings do not seem intuitive when
integrated with Shorewall. It seems to me that someone had done a
write-up for this Linksys box, but I can''t seem to find it in the
documentation.
Is "CRS" just setting in or am I just not finding it ?
The setup (intended) similar to before Tom when to Xen, eth0 to my ISP
DSL-modem, eth1 to DMZ (web/mail), eth2 to local LAN, and eth3 to the
Linksys.
I have eth3 at 192.168.1.254
The Linksys Static IP to .250
The Linksys Default GW to .254
The Linksys Static DNS 1 to 1st IP supplied by SBC
The Linksys Static DNS 2 to 2nd IP supplied by SBC
The setup for linksys then wants a static router IP address, I set this
to .251 for lack of anything better - but do you let the Linksys device
enable the local DHCP ? Or, do I run DHCP on the firewall ? (I currently
don''t even have it installed).
Suggestions, pointers, documentation I''m missing would be greatly
appreciated. FWIW Firewall is SuSE 9.0 with Shorewall 3.0.4. Anyone
else have this hardware working ?
The only way I currently "talk" to the Linksys is with a Cat-5 patch
cord
from laptop eth0 to "port 1" (there is a crossover Cat-5 from eth3 to
"Internet" on the Linksys) and I see no name resolution.
Do I now own two wireless devices for sale on eBay?
