Xen users - Apr 2013 - Importing VM in .ova format in CLI

Hi
Can someone please point to some documentation on how to import .OVA
appliance on to XEN installed on Ubuntu.
I am following the
http://docs.vmd.citrix.com/XenServer/6.0.0/1.0/en_gb/guest.html#id886142

 xe vm-import -h XXXX -u YYYYY-pw ZZZZZ
filename=/var/lib/xen/images/ubuntu-netboot/ASG-vmware-image-0.1.0-b3_r2.ova

I am getting the following output.

"Unable to contact server. Please check server and port settings."

You need to install XCP, rather than the xend or xl toolstacks which you
get by default with the Xen packages on most distros (including  . Have

If the xapi daemon is indeed running then you likely need to check
firewalls and things like that since the xe tool can''t even connect to
it, which is a much more fundamental problem than not being able to
import an OVA. Do things like xe vm-list work?

XCP questions are often better directed to the (badly named) xen-api@
list.
