I notice fedora 17 isn''t in there yet.Any time frame for this release being packaged up? I would guess part of the issue is related to testing against ruby 1.9.x, which Fedora now ships with, but someone from Puppetlabs should confirm. -Brian On Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 12:29 PM, Matthew Nicholson <matthew.a.nicholson@gmail.com> wrote:> I notice fedora 17 isn''t in there yet.Any time frame for this release > being packaged up? Re: [Puppet Users] yum.puppetlabs.com for fedora 17
Yes, we are working on packaging Fedora 17, but as Brian suspected, we haven''t worked out the kinks in packaging against Ruby 1.9.x. If someone has patches to submit against the spec file in conf/redhat/puppet.spec that will allow for a ruby 1.9 build, please submit a pull request. If you want to help, but need pointers, I''m happy to point you in the right direction. matthaus On Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 12:17 PM, Brian Gupta <brian.gupta@brandorr.com> wrote:> I would guess part of the issue is related to testing against ruby > 1.9.x, which Fedora now ships with, but someone from Puppetlabs should > confirm. > > -Brian > > On Mon, Jul 2, 2012 at 12:29 PM, Matthew Nicholson > <matthew.a.nicholson@gmail.com> wrote: >> I notice fedora 17 isn''t in there yet.Any time frame for this release >> being packaged up? I''ve started on it before, but never had the time to finish it and submit a proper pull request. But we do have puppet packages that work reasonably for both ruby 1.8 and 1.9¹. http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=puppet.git ¹ Modulo the bugs that are present in 2.7 with ruby 1.9, which I understand are unlikely to be fixed until 3.0. Personally, I''d avoid puppet on Fedora 17 until this has changed.
