Hello, all. We recently got two sets of server certificates from Equifax Secure (the least expensive one around, I think). They depend on Thawte for their authentication, using what is known as a chained certificate, so you actually have to install (1) an intermediate certificate to connect Equifax with Thawte''s root certificate as well as (2) the server certificate issued in our domain name. We installed one set of certificates on an NT machine running IIS without too much trouble, but neither Equifax nor we can figure out how to get the other set of certificates working on the Linux box running RH Secure Web Server 2.0. (We got a different flavor of certificate for IIS than for Apache, so that''s not the problem) The directions applicable to Stronghold (not strictly applicable here) advise deleting the existing Thawte CA root certificate and replacing it with one supplied by Equifax. However, I can find no CA certificates that come with RH SWS. Equifax tried combining the Equifax certificate with ours in a single file, and we have tried using the CACertificateFile setting in httpd.conf to point to the intermediate certificate and the combined certificate, but to no avail. In any event, the literature seems to indicate that the CA Certificate file setting only relates to client side certificates. Does anyone have any experience using chained CA server certificates? Are we forgetting to do some step of the process? Thanks for your help. --Harold Leach Legal Computer Solutions, Inc. hhl@lcsweb.com
