Puppet users - Feb 2011 - Puppet 2.6 Environments

Oh boy. I''m a bit stuck here. I just moved our puppet config into
environments, and now puppet won''t serve up any files.

(/Stage[yum]/Yum::Client/File[/etc/yum.conf]) Could not evaluate: Error 400
on SERVER: Not authorized to call
 find on /file_metadata/pax_prod/yum/client/etc/yum.conf Could not retrieve
file metadata for puppet:///pax_prod/yum/client/etc/yum.conf: Error 400 on
SERVER: Not authorized to
 call find on /file_metadata/pax_prod/yum/client/etc/yum.conf at
/etc/puppet/env/pax_prod/modules/yum/manifests/client.pp:50

That error was with me trying to put the environment into the file path, ie:

source => "puppet://${server}/pax_prod/yum/client/etc/yum.conf",

which obviously didn''t work. It didn''t work without the
environment name in
there either. What could I be missing here? Basically, every single file
reference is failing at the moment.

I suspect you''re hitting #3910, or a variant. It''s possible
for the
master and client to disagree on the clients environment. The client
will always request file paths based on it''s concept of environment,
regardless of what the master/catalog/external node classifier
defines.

Remove $environment from your source parameters, it''s already baked in
to the actual request URI. On your puppet clients try to specify the
desired environment:  ''puppet agent -t --environment pax_prod''
If that works a template for puppet.conf with something like this may
help:
[main]
  environment = <%= $environment %>


If that''s not the issue I''d look at fileserver.conf or
access.conf
settings next.
