Another problem I would like to speack about : tags. Each format appears to create its own tag. TwinVQ and WMA tags are limited but Mp3 has a good tag system (although the "genre" category could be improved). Now ogg develops a new kind of tagging. I imagine converting all my tags with thousand of tracks... real nightmare... Is there an authority or a project to standardiza tags ? http://www.webstandards.org doesn't seem to be involved, and I know nowhere else... ______________________________________________________________________________ ifrance.com, l'email gratuit le plus complet de l'Internet ! vos emails depuis un navigateur, en POP3, sur Minitel, sur le WAP... http://www.ifrance.com/_reloc/email.emailif --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. Why would you convert your already lossily-compressed sources to another lossy compression format anyway? Unless you reencode from the original you're losing quality and tag formats aren't an issue unless you're converting sources. And while we're on the subject of metadata, has anyone compiled a list of what we want in the still largely unsettled "kitchen sink" metadata that is planned to be interleaved with the stream? The kids who invented these should have been forced to take a few software engineering courses before doing it. id3 makes me itch. It's true. It gives me hives. What it tries to do is admirable enough, but it could not have been implemented more poorly. Excuse me, I need to go wash my hands. Ick.
