[Theora] Theora for Hendheld/Embedded Operating Systems
I'm not sure if it was discussed earlier, but I've found nothing in the archives: (Will there be / Is there) a decoder library for Embedded Devices?
Try looking at VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html Greets, Bram On 11/22/05, Thomas Kuglitsch <tkuglits@edu.uni-klu.ac.at> wrote:> I'm not sure if it was discussed earlier, but I've found nothing in the > archives: > (Will there be / Is there) a decoder library for Embedded Devices? > _______________________________________________ > Theora mailing list > Theora@xiph.org > http://lists.xiph.org/mailman/listinfo/theora >-- Key fingerprint = CFF9 A55D 6677 7EF2 035D 7695 639D 107C EDB3 D318

The reference implementation has --disable-encode and --disable-float configure options to reduce code size by not including the encoder and to remove the few bits of the API that require floating point support. That said, of course an embedded device would benifit from some platform-specific optimization. We've not received any patches of that sort, but of course they would be welcome. -r
