[Lustre-discuss] Upgrading 1.6.7.1 -> 1.8.1 Documentation?
Hi everyone, I was wondering if there was any documentation specific to upgrading lustre 1.6.x branch to 1.8.x branch. All the docs I could find were in regard to 1.4.x -> 1.6.x Can I just use the same procedure? http://wiki.lustre.org/index.php/Upgrade_to_1.6 Also, after the upgrade I likely won''t be able to perform any more upgrades for about a year. With this in mind what would be the safer bet? (stability more important that performance): - stick with 1.6.x branch (upgrade to 1.6.7.2) - upgrade to 1.8.0.1 - upgrade to 1.8.1 Thanks, Nick -- Nick Jennings Technical Director Creative Motion Design www.creativemotiondesign.com

Because for 1.4->1.6 there were steps beyond simply installing packages to upgrade.> Also, after the upgrade I likely won''t be able to perform any more > upgrades for about a year.As in you cannot even upgrade to bug fix releases?> With this in mind what would be the safer > bet? But if you really do mean you don''t intend to even do bugfix upgrades, maybe that''s moot anyway.> - upgrade to 1.8.0.1 > - upgrade to 1.8.1Well, 1.6.7.2 has had a longer "soak time" and still not had any bugs come up that are critical enough for us to consider another 1.6 release. Maybe that speaks for itself. I guess the call is ultimately yours to make. b. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I agree 1.6.7.2 is probably the most stable out thre.> > b. > > > _______________________________________________ > Lustre-discuss mailing list > Lustre-discuss at lists.lustre.org > http://lists.lustre.org/mailman/listinfo/lustre-discuss > >
