Lustre discuss - Jul 2008 - 1.6.5.1: ko2iblnd: disagrees about version ...

Hi,

I have installed the 1.6.5.1 rpm packages lustre-client and 
lustre-client-modules on a Scientific Linux 5.1 system
(kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5). The attempt to start lnet
over o2ib fails. dmesg prints the following messages:

Installing the kernel-ib RPM didn''t help.
(Why should that be necessary? The kernel-ib package installs
modules for the lustre kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5_lustre.1.6.5.1smp
and not for the SL kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5.)

This is the kernel-ib RPM from our download site, yes?

Have you rebooted since installing the kernel-ib RPM?

Because the lustre-client-modules'' ko2iblnd was built for an
"external"
OFED (1.3), not the OFED that is included with the vendor kernel.

Yes, indeed. There will be a kernel-ib (should be
kernel-ib-1.3-2.6.18_53.1.14.el5.$(uname -m).rpm) for the patchless
Lustre modules too.  The upload to the SDLC is still being finalized.
An announcement of the 1.6.5.1 release will come when it is finalized.
