Lustre discuss - Sep 2007 - confusion about objects creation

Hi everyone,
 
I have some confusion about objects creation:
 
1. After a file touch, a object id is allocated to the file (see the id by the
lfs getstripe command). But when vi it later, the object id is changed. Why?
2. Mounting the MDS with ldiskfs type, there are many directories and files. And
what function is the "OBJECTS" dir used for?

The object is changed since even the inode gets changed. The reason is
that vi creates a new file each time you open it for backup purposes.
