Lustre discuss - Jul 2007 - Failover network interface.

Hi,

The OSS node I use has two network interfaces eth0 and eth2.
eth0 - 1Gb Ethernet
eth2 - 10Gb Ethernet

I configured lnet to use eth2 but I am wondering if I could configure  
lnet to use eth0 as well (as a failover for eth2)  in case of network  
failure on eth2 ?

Hi,
i''m not an expert in lustre but, reading the manual i understood  that
this is automatically done using the parameter in /etc/modprobe.conf

options lnet network=tcp0(eth0,eth0)

this options tells Lustre to use both your network cards.

You could use bonding in a active-backup mode. And then run
lnet on top of the bonding interface eg.

option lnet network=tcp0(bond0)

(search for bonding.txt on google)
