[Lustre-discuss] ETA of Lustre 1.6? Any new betas?
Hi all! What''s the current progress of Lustre 1.6? Any targeted release? The reason I''m asking is that the release rate of betas have been painfully low, which implies that development also is slow. Being an advocate of "release early - release often" I would much rather see a steady stream of betas (or weekly snapshots, whatever) where you can see the progress of fixed bugs and such. As the situation stands now all I''ve seen are "targeted for betaX" notes to known bugs, despite that patches exists and seem to be commited in some tree somewhere. I know that there also is the QA issue, but since we''re talking betas release them anyway with a comment on why they failed QA if that''s the case. I would suggest that you establish some form of scheduled releases of snapshots, once a week or so. This would help us users by enabling us to try the latest snapshot and see if the-bug-that-did-bite-us-the-last-time is fixed so we can move along to the next-thing-that-bites-us. Right now the turnaround time seems to be months, if not years, for 1.6 issues :/ /Nikke -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Niklas Edmundsson, Admin @ {acc,hpc2n}.umu.se | nikke@acc.umu.se --------------------------------------------------------------------------- You made my day, now you have to sleep in it =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
