[Lustre-discuss] Transferring data from one OST to another
Hi all, I have a one active MDS and 6 OSS(each serving one OST) with no failover support. Everything was working fine but now one of the OSS node is having machine failures very often and hence lustre fs gets offline. What I want is to shift the data from failing OSS''s OST to another machine who will then serve as the new replaced OSS without disturbing the previous data.So can I copy the data from the OST device(say /dev/sda7 ) in raw mode to another machines some partition and change the configuration in the xml file and start serving. Is it possible -- Regards-- Rishi Pathak National PARAM Supercomputing Facility Center for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) Pune University Campus,Ganesh Khind Road Pune-Maharastra -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There is a KB entry in bugzilla that describes this. Search for "backup". If you are moving the OST to another machine you also need to run "lconf --write-conf {config}.xml" on the mds.
