Am I the only one that''s getting curious as to why there hasn''t been a new 1.6 beta release? I''ve seen enough build oddities and so on passing by the mail lists that to feel that a there should have been a couple more betas released by now... It would also be interesting to know for which kernels there are going to be patches. We (HPC2N) are interested in support for Ubuntu Dapper LTS which uses kernel.org 2.6.15 plus various fixes, so a working patch set for kernel.org 2.6.15 would be nice (the one in 1.6beta5 doesn''t work too well as been seen on the mail lists). In any case, it would be nice to see some progress since we''d really like to deploy 1.6 instead of 1.4, but given the current rate of betas it seems like we''ll have to wait a few years or deploy 1.4 :/ /Nikke -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Niklas Edmundsson, Admin @ {acc,hpc2n}.umu.se | nikke@hpc2n.umu.se --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boldly going forward because we can''t find reverse. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
We''ve been holding off on the 1.6b7 release because we wanted to do some testing of it in the (unusual) Cray XT3 environment. It looks like we''re not going to get that opportunity this week, as we had hoped, so perhaps we will have to rethink that. There''s an RT ticket covering this: https://rt.clusterfs.com/Ticket/Display.html?id=27554 Niklas Edmundsson wrote:> > Am I the only one that''s getting curious as to why there hasn''t been a > new 1.6 beta release? > > I''ve seen enough build oddities and so on passing by the mail lists > that to feel that a there should have been a couple more betas > released by now... > > It would also be interesting to know for which kernels there are going > to be patches.
