Lustre discuss - Jul 2006 - How to install lustre with infiniBand?

Hi:

I tried to use Lustre with InfiniBand, but I encountered some problems.
1. If I install lustre 1.4.6. it works fine. (kernel 2.6.5_7.244_lustre)
2. If I install InfiniBand ibhost stack without installing lustre, it also 
works fine. (kernel 2.6.5_7.244)
However, when I install lustre 1.4.6, my InfiniBand will fail to active 
because
the driver says it doesn''t support the kernel version(lustre patched). 
How
do I solve this problem?

Hi

The ibhost, lustre and kernel needs to be on the same revision.  
Meaning you need to follow these steps.

1. Install kernel-source (lustre patched)
2. Install lustre-source and ibhost-source
3. Compile ibhost against your kernel
4. Compile linux kernel
5. compile lustre against the ibhost source --with-vib=<path to ibhost>

Then use the rpm''s that were created out of above steps.
