"lfs getstripe /path/to/lustre/file" will report it for a single file,
or use "lfs find -R /lustre/mountpoint" to get a recursive listing.

Depends what you are doing exactly.

I have a couple of quick questions regarding lustre metadata.

Is there some way to determine which files are stored on which nodes?

If a file is modified directly on a node disk, will the meta data server 
notice the change and update accordingly? Or is there some way of 
instructing it to do so?
