Lustre discuss - May 2006 - Multiple interfaces on an OSS/MDS

A question in three parts:

 

1. When configuring a node (and its interfaces), can you define and use
multiple interfaces?  I know that lmc will allow you to use multiple
''-add net'' commands per node and the resulting xml file will
list
multiple interfaces for the node, but does this mean that lustre will
use all the interfaces listed?

 

2. If so, do the interfaces have to be of different types (tcp, elan,
gm, etc.) or can you define, for example, two tcp interfaces?

 

3. If you can have multiple interfaces (of the same type or not), how do
you tell the clients which interface you prefer to use when connecting
to the OSS/MDS?
