I''m glad to see some progress being made on this!  A few comments:

Please don''t install anything with a .sh or .pl extension in the system
path.

Also, if utilities are packaged in an RPM, it is appropriate to put them in
/usr/bin or /usr/sbin.  /usr/local/* is for locally-installed software - in
other words, things outside the control of RPM.

Is obparse.pl intended to be called by end-users?  If so, it needs better
documentation.  If not, please remove it from the system path. 
/usr/lib/lustre-iokit is a good place.

Also, I''m happy to inspect this.  I''d like to see the .spec
and a .rpm produced
using it.

If they are intended to be called by end-users, they should go in /usr/bin.  If
they are only intended for system administrators (root generally), they should
go in /usr/sbin.

It is not necessary to end a shell script with a .sh extension, nor is it
necessary to end a Perl script with a .pl extension.  For example, my
desktop''s
/usr/bin contains 86 Perl scripts, none of them ending in .pl.
