I don''t think the changes to the lnds are needed - they are specific to
the OS
and are entitled to use OS-specific symbols and macros.

Also, beware that the same lnet version (b_hd_newconfig) is used with different
lustre versions, so you might need to have patches ready for the major lustre
version too.
