freebsd stable - Dec 2006 - fdformat usb floppy disks not supported on 6.x ?

is there any way to fdformat a floppy connected
through usb ?

	luigi# fdformat da0
	fdformat: not a floppy disk: /dev/da0

i am running a RELENG_6 from Dec.23 sources, and
the device is the following:
