Hi all, Before 5.4R is released, I would like to make sure which problems described in 5.3R errata[*] are solved and which are not. If you had a problem on 5.3R and you make sure it is solved (or still persists) on 5.4-RC series, could you please inform us? Any comments are welcome. Thanks in advance. Thanks in advance.I was having some problems with the sk(4) driver under FreeBSD 5.3R. I'll see if it is still present on FreeBSD 5.4RC3 and write back. Essentially, the card would lock up under heavy load and wouldn't respond unless it was ifconfig'd down and up several times. This was an onboard Yukon GigE chipset.> > [*] http://www.FreeBSD.org/releases/5.3R/errata.html > > -- > | Hiroki SATO > > >-- Best wishes, Alexander G. Thanks in advance. >this one: (31 Oct 2004) The results of netstat -m can become incorrect on SMP systems when debug.mpsafenet is set to 1 (default). This is an error in the statistics gathering because of a race condition in the counters, not an actual memory leak. Still existed as of April 4 on amd64. haven't had opportunity to update this sever as it is in production. can test tomorrow when another box arrives... :-)
hihi, all - Hiroki Sato <hrs@FreeBSD.org> asked about problems in the 5.3R errata file that are not yet fixed in 5.4-RC3 i had two problems that as far as i know are not yet fixed one is the sk(4) driver for the onboard Yukon GigE chipset, as mentioned by Alexander G. Chamandy (i have other machines with belkin GigE network interface cards that do work with the sk driver on 5.3R and 5.1R) the other is the ancient (i am told it actually predates freebsd) overflow error in calcru() - i have been running my proposed fixes (which only affect processes with over 100 hours of cpu time) for several months and there have been no problems - i am writing up the suggestions and will submit them when i am done if anyone wants to help me test these things, let me know as far as i know, though, neither of these errors was in the 5.3R errata file more soon, cal
