Okay, I know, perhaps not STABLE, but now that 5.3 has become
stable...
Anyway, I have 5.1 installed. I have attempted to buildworld
of 5.2.1, and I get:
===> lib/libpam/modules/pam_deny
cc -O2 -pipe -march=pentiumpro
-I/usr/src/lib/libpam/modules/pam_deny/../../../../contrib/openpam/include
-I/usr/src/lib/libpam/modules/pam_deny/../../libpam -Wsystem-headers -Werror
-Wall -Wno-format-y2k -W -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes
-Wpointer-arith -Wreturn-type -Wcast-qual -Wwrite-strings -Wswitch -Wshadow
-Wcast-align -Wno-uninitialized -c
/usr/src/lib/libpam/modules/pam_deny/pam_deny.c
building static pam_deny library
ranlib libpam_deny.a
===> lib/libpam/modules/pam_echo

Anybody want to hazzard a guess as to why this is happening?
Why don't I simply install/upgrade to 5.3? Well, I tried that.
And, I could not get the PCMCIA NIC (Netgear FA410) to work - I got
an ethernet address of aa:aa:aa:aa, and something about an interrupt
storm when the card was plugged in. There was a question about this
in mid-November that nobody responded to, BTW.
So, since I am not the person who asked the question in mid-
November, I am asking here, again, trying to determine when the
PCMCIA/ed1 handling was broken.
In the meanwhile, I can use 5.1 to do the debugging work that I
need to do...
