freebsd stable - Oct 2004 - Future support for PERC 4e/XX cards

Howdie,

 	Was wondering if the following cards would be supported in the 
near future by BSD 4.10.

PERC 4e/Si and PERC 4e/Di. These are from the new Dell poweredge 1850 and 
2850 servers.

Did you try them and they did not work, or are you looking to see if 
they will work before you buy them?  I suspect they'll work since Dell 
uses mostly AMI cards which work with the amr RAID driver, or the 
Adaptec cards which work with the aac driver.  If you ask your dell 
server specialist, they can tell you what chipset is uses and that will 
be a better indication of whether it will work.

Hi,

if I'm not mistaken these cards use the new PCI Express bus, which FreeBSD
4.x/5.x doesn't yet support. On my latest PowerEdge 1850 I had to use an
add-in RAID controller, PERC 4/DC, in order to get RAID.
