I have a machine which was stable until I swapped the motherboard with a Intel D865GBF with a Pentium 4 and 2GB of memory. Previously it was running on a PentiumIII motherboard. Since that time It's been crashing on a regular basis. I sent a (admittedly brief) question into the list a day or so ago. This is a followup which provides some more information. The box is running 4.9-STABLE, cvsupped within the last 24 or so hours. In order to get a crashdump out of this I had to reconfigure the kernel with MAXMEM set to 768x1024 to fit in one of my 1GB swap partitions. I finally (today) got a crashdump for the traceback below. This is crashing fairly consistently at the Instruction pointer below. Occasionally I'll see a crash in one of the pmap_ functions (pmap_object_init_pt was a favorite before the cvsup). I'm willing to do some additional digging, but I'm not a kernel expert, especially when it comes to virtual memory. Before we get to the crash dump, a couple more datapoints: This is a single processor board, although I've had SMP both on and off (to enable HTT). Doesn't make a difference. This doesn't seem to be load related, although this box does a lot of things on a periodic basis. I can provide additional data/config files on request. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to restabilize this box. The crashdump follows: ----------------------------------------------- corp.mt.net:/var/crash|gdb -k /kernel.debug vmcore.0 GNU gdb 4.18 (FreeBSD) Copyright 1998 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
