freebsd stable - Mar 2004 - opengl and XFree86.

Maybe slightly off topic but...  I am trying to run some opengl code
including glut and gl and get the error:
        Xlib:  extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display
":0.0".
with the opengl window opening but no graphics in it.  

Odd since DRI is neither loaded by XFree86 nor should it be as it does
not support the Riva TNT2 card.

Any idea what could be the problem?

You need the nvidia driver... it has two parts a XF86 driver module
and a kernel module... just install it from x11/nvidia-driver or
whatever... then just reconfig X... and have loader.conf load the
driver upon boot
