freebsd stable - Oct 2003 - Source directory fails

When making the /usr/src/usr.bin/file directory fails in Make world any ideas ?
I tried deleted and installing again no help...
it fails at ./mkmagic magic

I suggest posting the last page or so of text that appears when you do this.

Make sure you're checking out the right source tree too.
