freebsd stable - Aug 2003 - module build failing in -STABLE

buildworld fails for me right now, consistantly in the same place, with
freshly cvsuped source from cvsup.freebsd.org with the following error.

but it only fails if I have;

 options        DIAGNOSTIC

enabled.
