This may be symptomatic of missing libraries. Do you see any ld.so
errors in your .xsession-errors? Do you see any application crashes
when you run dmesg?

What do you have set to startup when you login to GNOME? These messages
may be benign. For instance, Phoenix has been known to cause this when
browsing certain websites.

You can try moving ~/.gnome2/session file out of the way to force GNOME
to start a default session. Also, answering my above questions can shed
some more light on this.
