Pkg xen devel - Jan 2012 - Bug#655581: solution

Apologies, there is a slight change required to the solution. replace 
the do_ifup line as follows:

     if [ -n "${slaves}" ]; then
         ip link set dev $bridge up
         [ -n "$gateway" ] && ip route add default via
${gateway}
     else
         do_ifup ${bridge}
     fi
